First off: less coffee for you heheheh
I used a KA on electronics and a dispel (it shuts them off but if they
arent destroyed by the KA you can turn them back on), and a big nasty
suppress on END for a constant ECM... so the items cant run for lack of energy

The Hero list, for the first time in a couple of years, actually stopped
discussing for a short time.
We really need some new Hero Games/GRG products to discuss! :-]

In the meantime, if anyone's interested in discussing some of the old ones
along the following lines...
I've just started putting together a series of web pages that will
eventually (this project will be very much "as I get time") offer
descriptions of the various Hero System genres, and comparisons and
contrasts with other genre-based RPGs. In addition to supers, I want to do
Pulp Adventure, Horror, Spy/Espionage, Old West and possibly Space.
The format of these pages is very much in the early formation stage, but at
the moment I'm thinking along the lines of including for each game notes on:
* Flexibility
* Complexity
* Overall production values
* Unique features of this game within its genre
* List of available products
* A non-exhaustive list of links for each game
The thing is, I don't own all the games I'd like to see written up and
reviewed here. Anyone who'd like to participate in this will be credited,
and links will be included to each person's website and/or email address if
desired.
Let me know what you think should be included in order to make these pages
a worthwhile resource, and if you'd like to contribute any material. Also,
let me know if you already have online reviews of any of these products on
your own website. Probably no point in my duplicating your effort if I can
just link to it, eh?
None of the pages in question are online yet, but there is a separate page
you can look at that will give you an idea of what games I'd like to see
covered here. It's mainly an uploaded copy of the checklist/shopping list
for my own collection:

Subject: DunDraCon thoughts
I got back from DunDraCon last week (unfortunately, racked by a killer flu
bug that's rendered me barely coherent for the last few days); since this
list seems a little dead and DunDraCon's one of the two big Hero cons of the
year, it seems like a good topic for discussion.
New Products: I picked up the latest Hero Plus product: Chris Avellone's New
Bedlam Asylum. Chris is arguably the most talented writer ever to work for
Hero, and possibly the most under appreciated by the broad fan base because
of the darkness of his material. I've only glimpsed a little bit of it so
far, but it's jaw dropping good. I also picked up Cthulhu Creator, the
latest module for the Creation Workshop series (which means, with RTG's
forthcoming Dragon Ball Z game and this product, you'll be able to run
fights between Saiyans and the Big C. The Big Crunch may happen several tens
of billions of years sooner than expected).
I haven't loaded Cthulhu Creator yet, but I'm told it supports all CoC time
periods, and Pagan's unbelievably good Delta Green setting. The next
Creation Workshop module is going to be Ars Magica Creator. Good news for
those wondering how to do Ars Magica spells in Hero.
No other new products were announced at the show, but I did learn a few
snippets about others: Aaron Allston's Strike Force is going to be a magnum
opus ("the work of a lifetime" as Aaron called it), with a lot of emphasis
on campaigning advice and troubleshooting. See the Hero Games web site for
further details - it's going to be good. The Ultimate Shapechanger has a
section on spirits. Hero 5th Edition is being aimed at (NOT promised for) an
August release; Steve's finishing up a 2nd draft now, and Steve and the Hero
boys had just gone through a round of proposed rules changes: expect
Enhanced Senses to get some expansion. There will be two new superhero games
coming out this year from other guys: "Abberent" (I think) from White Wolf,
and "Brave New World" (I think) from Pinnacle, the Deadlands people.
I attended some seminars and gave a couple. I got to speak with the
inimitable Steve Long, Pat Sweeney, and TSR's Chris Pramas at the "How To
Break Into Gaming" panel. It went really well. Aaron and I gave a talk where
we exposed fans to our upcoming "Gestalt" and "Strike Force" universes;
Aaron was sick, but despite the bug, he gave a yeoman's performance. At the
"Women In Gaming" panel, a grognard loudly proclaimed that role-playing
games had no educational value, and the only educational games were military
sims (patting a bundle of SPI games). Offended, I leapt from my chair and
immediately grabbed him by the throat - wait, that didn't happen. Must be
the flu medicine kicking in. I think I ignored the asinine remark.
I also picked up some back issues of "Knights of the Dinner Table". some
Cheap Ass games, and an ultra-geek-cool "Kill Dr. Lucky" button. The game
distribution system's collapsed in my part of Canada for the last four
months, so it's good to see what these games are about. It's also a good
excuse to talk with Nikki Lindroos, who's a super lady.
And I got to play in Steve Long's Special Violence Task Force game again.
Not nearly as much plot as usual, but much more vehicular homicide. Chris
Pramas was playing an ATF agent who killed cultists. Seems like a natural
fit to me. Note to self: next character must be more psychotic.
It was great to see the Hero folk at the Con, as well as numerous old and
new friends. It's nice to see our community continues to survive in the wake
of the industry downturn and the distribution crisis, and hopefully we'll be
due for some good times again when 5th Edition hits the shelves.

Scott,
Would you mind telling us, those that couldn't make it to DunDraCon, about
the seminar presented by you and Aaron Allston? Any juicy bits would be
appreciated.

I'd like to hear more about this one, please, once you've had time to
glimpse a little more of it.

Normally I'm extremely impatient about product releases, but as long as
they keep putting it off in order to improve it that much more, I say okay.
Up to a point. :)
>and "Brave New World" (I think) from Pinnacle, the Deadlands people.
Dunno anything about White Wolf, but the above is correct. According to
Pinnacle, it should be out in August. Supers in facist America, this one's
is both RPG and built-in campaign world. Not a lot of information yet, but
what there is can be seen at
http://www.peginc.com/BraveNewWorld/BNW.html
>I also picked up some back issues of "Knights of the Dinner Table".
The only issue I don't have is #2. My local comic shop has a copy for $10,
and the irrational collector in me screams "What are you waiting for?!?!
Buy it!" but the rational brain points out that, since I have "Bundle of
Trouble", I already have all the strips from that issue anyway, so why pay
$10 for something I already have?
The irrational collector points out that I got wildly lucky last year and
found a very good copy of KOTD #1 in a 25 cent box, so if I average the two
prices together, it's not so bad. The collector in me really needs better
arguments, but I frequently let him have his way just to shut him up.
(Schizophrenic? Who, us?)
