How about this? Buy the explosion with the advantage 'triggered by Living
Bomb's T-Port'. So the explosive attack is 'set' under a desk or in a bus
station locker or on someone's hat. At the same time that happens, the
linked T-Port kicks in, removing LB from the scene, which in turn triggers
the explosion. All in a single 1/2 phase. Of course, I'd probably just
handwave it and say the linked T-Port works after the bomb is set.

Another thing that occured to me is the time it takes LB to rebuild himself.
Would you do this by putting delayed effect on the T-Port or would you use
an XDM to just make him gone for a while?

On a related note, I had a character once who had minor powers, but was, in
fact, a titanic bomb that knew he only had a certain amount of time to
live. In fact he knew exactly when he was going to detonate, and was
constantly asking the time and wore 3 watches on each arm.

He was built in the old system as a multiform without the ability to change
back to human (you used to have to buy the forms you could be in every
form-- so you couldnt shut the power OFF unless you bought your human form
in each one). The form he accidental changed into had every single point
of the multiform 150 pts, if I remember correctly, as a KA explosion. He
just turned into an explosion and ceased to exist, because it killed the
heck out of him.

Was kind of funny, he blew up the bad guy's base full of evil genetically
engineered monsters as the others ran like crazy.

Subject: A thought on the Disadvantage "Age"

In Champions, you can take the disadvantage "Age" at the levels 40+ and 60+
to represent new NCM as people get older. Has anyone ever considered
another level for PCs who are young? After all, children would have a lower
possible STR and BOD, just off the top of my head.

I've taken a PhysLim: Underage before to represent the fact that the PC
couldn't drive, wouldn't be allowed into bars, was condescended to by
adults, etc. but that's not quite the same thing.

What would be a good cutoff age? 13 years or less maybe?

Thoughts?

The problem with the above example is that the age range is varied.
You can drive at 16; get into a bar at 21; and always be spoken down
to by anyone at least 20 years older than yourself. And these are
societal limitations, not physical.

If you want to look at the physical limitation, consider that by
age 14-15, you're practically the physical equal of anyone in the
15-25 age group. Especially if regular training is involved.

The long awaited, much doubted X-Men movie is to be filmed in Toronto!
Director Bryan Singer and associate producer Tom De Santo are scouting
locations in T.O. right this very minute.

I've never had the slightest inclination to be a movie extra until today.
Watch for me as the good lookin' guy in a Leafs hat who points and yells,
"That's one o' them muties!"

Can I get an 'Amen!'

Here's the cast according the the Internet Movie Database

The models-as-thespians count is a little high for my liking but at least
we've got the Picard for the role he was born to play.

I haven't seen it, I've only heard about it. Boy am I glad.
Okay, maybe this won't be taht bad, but Marvel's track record is pretty

A PhysLim in Champions doesn't have to actually be physical, it just has to
be something that is inherent in the character and can't just be willed
away. Hence the example in the book of "Unfamiliar with Earth Culture" as a
PhysLim.

In the case of the character I mentioned, the PC was hampered by not being
able to produce ID (he was too law-abiding to just get a fake ID) and get
into certain places. A Driver's License was an everyman perk, except for
that one PC. There were a few such inconveniences.

Obviously, if I'd played the character long enough in game time, I'd have
had to buy down, and eventually buy off the disadvantage.

Well, that's why when I was talking about making a variant of the Age disad,
I suggested 13 as an approximate cutoff. (The ages in the "Age" disad don't
have to be taken literally, they're just suggestions). It's going to vary
from individual, and for males and females.

I believe the character in question is named Nitro. While I didn't read his
appearances in Spidey, I have read his appearance in Iron Man and Heros for
Hire. A pretty cool concept, IMHO.

- - Not only can he detonate his whole body, he can detonate *parts* of his
body. He's used the 'ol "exploding punches" routine in his fist-fight with
Hercules in Heros for Hire. I'd like to see him, say, stick his finger in
the gaps of a tank's armor and detonate it for a "shaped-charge" effect.

I don't think Teleport would be the correct power to use to simulate Nitro's
power. From what I've read, he can't reform any place he chooses - he must
reform at the point where he detonated.

As Brian Warrow mentioned, it also takes Nitro time to reform himself.
Under normal circumstances, the time is negligible - Nitro has no desire to
test the limits of his power, as the more powerfully he explodes the longer
it takes him to pull himself back together.

Here's the construct I'd use:

Xd6 EB, No Range, Explosion, Personal Immunity
Desolid, No End, Persistent, Trigger (EB)

And here's my rationalization - In Heros for Hire, Nitro was defeated when
Hercules threw a natural gas tanker at him. He had a choice - detonate it
(and himself), or be crushed by it. When Nitro detonated, the fuel from the
tanker created a secondary explosion that, when added to the first, spread
Nitro's molecules beyond his ability to pull them back together (at least
immediately).

Here's how that same situation plays in Champions. Nitro activates his EB
Explosion, rupturing the tanker. While Nitro has personal immunity to his
own explosion, he doesn't have immunity to the tanker's. The damage he
takes is enough to knock Nitro unconscious. Then his Desoild activates.
Because it is Persistent, he remains Desolid until he regains consciousness
and is able to turn the power off. Thus, it takes him more time to pull
himself together, neh?

Of course, this does require a very specific interpretation of the Personal
Immunity rules - If you'd rather, you could take off Personal Immunity
alltogether. Instead, give him Regeneration - Only while Desolid. Using
this construct, he won't be able to pull himself back together
instantaneously. Instead, the length of time before he re-corporates is
based on the amount of damage he deals.

But if you still want to use Teleport, I'd at least use the limitation "Only
within the area of effect of his explosion."

A DC villain with similar powers is Shrapnel. Shrapnel is composed, not
surprisingly, of shards of metal, and can explode his component parts at
will. I believe he started as a Superman villain, possibly during John
Byrne's run.

That strikes me as a remarkably useless power to use against Superman.

S-man: "What's your schtick?"

Shrapnel: "I explode and send shrapnel flying everywhere!"

Yeah. As I recall, he spent a lot of time threatening innocent bystanders
and exploding out of Superman's grasp.

Also, while I don't specifically remember this happening with Shrapnel, if
Byrne was drawing I'm sure the Man of Steel's cape got shredded.

Me too. I have somewhat-pruned archives of the list going back

I've had thoughts, lately, of putting togehter a perl script to
go through some of my larger mail archives and thread messages, sort
them, etc. One thing I'm not sure on is how a vanilla mailer like elm
distinguishes between one message and the next. It appears to just
break on a blank line followed by "From somebod@somesite", but that
seems rather fragile.

If there is no comprehensive archive out there, maybe we could
gather together several sets of archived champs mailing lists and pump
them through a script that would eliminate duplicates, filter out
extraneous headers, and build a big threaded archive.

And recently, Iron Man has been able to interpret the 'signal' (electro-magnetic
pulse ?) that Nitro gives off when he detonates, and duplicate it to
force Nitro to detonate himself.
